A recent report into the social value created by social housing providers in Greater Manchester has revealed that 10,222 residents have been supported towards employment in the last year.
The annual Social Value report, produced by the Greater Manchester Housing Providers (GMHP) partnership, made up of 26 social housing providers in the region, also reveals that the partnership has invested more than £2.4m in grants for the community/voluntary sector, spent £308m with businesses with an operating base in Manchester, and more than £12.6m with non-for-profit organisations.
Social Value is the benefit to the community over and above the direct purchasing of goods, services and outcomes and is a key part of what social housing providers bring to local communities.
GMHP is dedicated to driving change in the role social value plays in supporting social outcomes across Greater Manchester.
The launch of the report coincides with Housing Day 2020. Now in its eighth year, #HousingDay has played an important role in raising the profile of the social housing sector and ensuring the voices of residents and leaseholders are heard.
