More Salford people with good wellbeing

Feelings of wellbeing are fundamental to the overall health of an individual, enabling them to successfully overcome difficulties and achieve what they want out of life.

Evidence suggests there are 5 steps you can take to improve your mental health and wellbeing:

  1. Connect
  2. Be active
  3. Take notice
  4. Keep learning
  5. Give

Our colleagues at Salford Together have identified the things you can do to achieve the 5 ways to wellbeing; trying these things could help you to feel more positive and able to get the most out of life; meaning you are likely to be healthier, happier and more able to learn, work, earn and be socially active.

The promotion of health and wellbeing is everyone’s business.

Wellbeing has been found to have an impact on many aspects of people’s lives such as their health, work, and social relationships. These relationships have also been found to impact on people’s wellbeing.

Fostering the principles of the 5 ways to wellbeing can help to prevent stress and create positive environments where individuals and communities can thrive.

If you are an employing organisation, you are crucial role models, and line managers and employees are more likely to engage with health and wellbeing interventions if they see their senior leaders actively participating in them. Senior managers have the authority and influence to ensure that wellbeing is a strategic priority embedded in the organisation’s day-to-day operations and culture. Investing in employee wellbeing can lead to increased resilience, better employee engagement, reduced sickness absence and higher performance and productivity.

If you make a pledge in relation to wellbeing, we’d like to hear how you will specifically take action to promote and support the people around you (whether this be employees, or individuals within a group and/or community)to:

  1. Connect
  2. Be active
  3. Take notice
  4. Keep learning
  5. Give
